Go Gators – Gator Birthday Party

My son turned 12 in October. He didn’t want a theme for his birthday party. He decided for his main gift was to just go to a local theme park for the day instead of having a party.

But– this mom– can’t let the day go by without some decorations. So the day before I fired up PhotoShop program, and my laser jet- and decided since I found some great plates and napkins at a local cake store–

To totally go with the GATOR THEME. As we are a GATOR family and we mostly bleed Blue and Orange (We also LOVE BYU as well– more on that end of the post)

So here is what I came up with– pulling out all our Gator stuff– and decorated a little party for him. We had family members over after we all went out for dinner- came back for yummies and gifts πŸ™‚

Pumpkin & Cream Cheese cupcakes with toppers

Love the pretty toppers!!

I turned one of our dollar store pumpkins into a decoration.

My son loves cheeseballs- and colors were perfect- relabled the front of his cheeseballs πŸ˜‰

Relabled the waters πŸ™‚

Pulled out our gator soda holders (what are they called?? keeps your drinks cold?)Β  And used those to hold our utensils for the party.Β  Candy Corn couldn’t have been more perfect for our ORANGE we needed.Β  Used my Car Flag to stand inΒ  vase with blue crepe paper for extra color πŸ™‚

Our festive table πŸ™‚ Banner Made as well — I thought the banner would embarrass him but later I got a big THANK YOU πŸ™‚

Sorted thru 2 bags of M&M’s and picked out all the blue and orange colors for the party πŸ™‚

Another pumpkin I “gatorized”Β  which is the back of our ANGRY BIRD pumpkin we painted earlier in the month πŸ™‚

Keeping the theme- wrapped up his gifts in Orange & Blue

He actually wanted an Icecream Cake for his birthday– and their “orange” writing turned out a bit yellow- but close enough?

Wouldn’t be a Gator birthday with out receiving some new Gator Gear!!

And last but certainly not least.Β  Although he loves the Florida Gators living in Florida– his heart is set already as a middle schooler– he wants to attend BYU– and received his 1st BYU Jersey Shirt. He was beyond excited πŸ™‚

I wanted to post this- to show that you can pull off a great party and decorations on a whim. Using things around the house- for decorations and even simply printing out on the computer. πŸ™‚Β  I don’t know what I would do with out my photoshop and laser printer πŸ™‚

He is glad I ignored the “no decorations please” party– and said he learned his lesson πŸ˜‰Β  (Good– because clearly he forgot who his mother is– and how heartbroken I would have been if I really didn’t get a chance to decorate hahah)

This is awesome! My kids high school mascot is the Gators and they play football and cheer. How did you make everything? I would love to have a template to save for next year. Our colors are navy blue and kelly green. This would be so much fun for a fall party or when we feed the football team. Love the BYU shirt too.

The can holders have several names that seem to depend on what part of the country you live in… huggers, coolers, and holders, among others. But by far the most popular name seems to be ‘koozies’, spelled mainly with a K but sometimes with a C. (Is that more than you really wanted to know?!)
