My Halloween Costume – Halloween Pinterest Board

Yes– I went as PINTEREST. 🙂  It was alot of fun and I got alot of good giggles at the Halloween Party I attended.

I was originally just going to go as a witch. I got a new costume this year and as much as I LOVED the costume I really needed something that was more ME..

Pinterest/Crafts and something homemade is TOTALLY ME!!

I tried to find a used cork board and could not. However I think this turned out better because it is SUPER light weight! Very happy with it!

So I will explain how I made it …

I started off with a 20×30 foam core board I got for 1.50 (or close to that) From Wal-mart.

I have a roll of craft paper on hand that is 22 inches wide so that worked perfectly. I sprayed one side of the board with spray glue adhesive and covered the board with kraft paper. Tripped off the excess and allowed it to dry.

To give it a boarder as if it was a real cork board we edged it with 1 inch white artist tape. On all 4 sides allowing each side to over lap.

Once all 4 sides taped – a trick I used in H.S. graphic design class – using a ruler and exacto cut diagonally through the tape only (not the board) Then once you do remove the two pieces and you get this….

A nice beveled edge that looks closer to mitered wood.

The next thing I did was print off a pinterest logo approximately 10 inches wide. Then I printed off the name of the board I wanted to be.

Last I printed off the bar you find at the top of your board about how many pins & followers you have. This I had to print on 2 pieces of paper so it could be approx 16 inches wide.

I printed off 12 samples off my real Halloween Board. I did this by screen capturing the screen and importing into photo shop and cropping.

I printed everything on cardstock. I then laid it all out before gluing it all down.

Once I glued everything down I needed a way to hang it around my neck. I decided to use some 3M command hooks set upside down on the board. Used ribbon and tied it to hook to the command hooks.

I found these awesome over sized cork board pins- however they are magnets. So they did not have pins actually in them. SCORE. This too was found at Wal-mart.

Used some strong adhesive on each pin.

I then glued on pins onto each “pinned” item on my board.  You could go totally with out this- however I needed to make sense of the brown background. Why it was brown.

I love how it turned out!!! 🙂  I am very happy with it. Didn’t cost me very much at all and like I said before. It is VERY light weight yet sturdy.

I will be attending a few more Halloween parties before next week and anxious to see how the next party goes.  I have noticed many MEN have no clue what I am — OR its older women that have no clue. WHAT??? They are SOOO missing out on Pinterest!!!
