Halloween Candle Holder & Cupcake Stand

I love Halloween!! I also love that Halloween doesn’t have to be just Orange and Black. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Vibrant colors are my favorite this time of the year.

I wanted to make a more festive Halloween Cupcake Stand and Chad wanted one made into a Candle Holder ๐Ÿ™‚

The black background is hard to see the cute Spider Legs on these. However in our tutorial on how we made them you can see them much better.

Started off with a bag of small wooden candle sticks…..

My favorite paint every by Plaid. I love the vibrant colors they have now. GREEN is my ALL time favorite!!!ย  And I forgot to photograph using a pack of their multi size Plaid acrylic paint brushes.

We also got from JoAnn’s crafts 4 inch round disks.ย  Chad found the center and drilled a screw into it before we started painting. This one disk is for his candle stick to hold the candle.

This is how it will look like – before gluing and painting.

Remove the screw before you paint.

I painted the middle section of the candle stick white, and then painted the bottom purple.

Then proceeded to paint the top section of the candle stick black.

While the candle stick was drying, I painted my disk orange on both sides.

Next, using one of the smaller Plaid brushes, I painted on the eyes, mouth, and even dipped in orange to make cheeks for my ghost.

Add mouth and cheeks on our spider portion of the candle stick.

A trick I learned years ago when I attended a painting class by Donna Dewberry, was to make perfect dots, you can use the back of your brush. So using my smaller sized paintbrush, I dipped it in my colors and added polka dots along the base of my candle stick.

Allowing my candle stick to dry, I painted on a pumpkin face to the 4 inch wood disk.

Add some highlights to the eyes to give it a bit of life ๐Ÿ™‚

I took pipe cleaners and tied them around the bottom of the spider and above the ghost. Bent them to look like legs. I cut 2 longer pieces and tied them on each side twisting = 4 legs. Then I took 2 smaller pieces folded in half and twisted it on each side to give him his full 8 legs.

Isn’t this so cute???

Chad re-inserted the screw in his pumpkin. For holding a candle.

Using wood glue to glue this project.

Glued the top of the spiderย  with wood glue….

Add your pumpkin disk back on and allow to dry fully.

Once it is dry the screw will help hold on your candle. Chad simply screwed the candle on and it was night and tight. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love how they turned out. Cute Halloween Cupcake Holder and Candle Holder ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Ready to put on our Halloween Shelf ๐Ÿ™‚

I found almost all of my Supplies by Plaid at JoAnn’s Crafts along with the wood and pipe cleaners too. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  The Candle we got at the Dollar Tree ๐Ÿ™‚

ENJOY and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
