Cake Donuts using Sunbeam Donut Maker – Easy and Delicious

These Cake Donuts were perfect as a little gift and something different than giving cupcakes all the time. They were extremely easy to make!

I purchased the Sunbeam FPSBDML920 Donut Maker off amazon. I love prime!! I can get it to me in 2 days WOOHOO!

I heard great reviews about this donut maker and that they make nice size ones as well.  It worked great and I am very pleased with my purchase.

It comes with recipes but I did my own. It made approx 22 donuts.

I used my favorite cake mix- I followed the directions on making it except I cut the water in 1/2.  It normally calls for 1 1/4 cups of water and I only used 3/4 of a cup approx.  Having it a bit thicker worked wonderfully. They were so tasty!

It makes 5 at a time. I placed all the batter into a zip top bag and cut the corner off and used that to fill the donut maker. It filled quickly and efficiently and with very little mess. It is VERY hot so do not let the baggie touch the black iron part or it will melt.

I allowed them to cook for 6 minutes. And this is what they looked like when they were done. Perfect and golden brown. They smelled HEAVENLY!!

I allowed them to cool on a plate while I kept making the whole batch.

My frosting / glaze for my cupcakes was my standard butter cream frosting however once I made the butter cream I microwaved it a bit to make it runny, and added a bit of water to it. So it was easy to glaze my cupakes with. Also I had a bowl of sprinkles ready as well.

These are my favorite sprinkles ever! Wilton 710-994 Rainbow Jimmies Food Decorative They are my go too sprinkles.

Simply grab the donut and dip it into the melted butter cream.

Once you alowed the excess to drip off…

Lightly dip it into the sprinkles. You need to dip in sprinkles immediately because the glaze will harden up pretty quickly.

Aren’t they pretty????  The glaze will harden up rather quickly as it cools off and it helps when wanting to box them up or stack them. They will not stick to each other after they have cooled completely.

I was able to get 5 in a Wilton cupcake box to give as a gift to friends. 🙂  They were very tasty and they were just like getting a cupcake just more fun and they look impressive 🙂

I am thrilled with the outcome and can’t wait to make them again. Would be wonderful for a brunch as well.  Going to try other flavors very soon!

Everyone loves donuts!!

I gought a Sumbeam doughnut make and like you, I did not like their receipes. Found your websight and tried it your way. However, I wanted peanut butter doughnuts. I used a yellow cake mix, reduced the oil to 1/4C and added 3/4C peanut butter. I started with 3/4C water and added as needed. They turned out fantastic.

I have one of these and I use muffin mixes in it as well and they turn out perfect every time. I also saw you can use canned cinnamon rolls in it too. Yum.
