Homemade Apple Butter

YUM YUM!! This made our house smell great.

Left over applesauce that we did not can/process, we put in the crock pot. I have a fairly large crock pot. We added 4 1/2 quarts of applesauce to the crock pot.

Add

2 tablespoons of Cinnamon
1 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
2 cups of sugar

Mix it with our applesauce. Set it to low and cook 6-12 hours. You will need to leave the lid cracked a bit so the liquid will evaporate off since it needs to cook down.

It will go from light brown to a very dark brown. YUMMY!!!

Then we processed them in 1/2 quart jars, in a canner for 10 minutes.

It did reduce quite a bit. We ended up with almost 2 quarts of apple butter. It gets pretty thick!

We are so excited to have this. Taste nearly as good if not better than the restaurant apple butter that we love.

We enjoy it on toast but we will definitely be needing to make us some homemade biscuits to enjoy this with.
