Loving our dehydrator – yummy snacks and seasonings

Loving our dehydrator - yummy snacks and seasonings

Before I talk about why I love this – I just want to say that I have not been paid to talk about our dehydrator. I was not given this dehydrator in exchange for this post. This is just a post I want to talk about what a great product this is and how fun and yummy the snacks we have made with it!

My girlfriend got one- and naturally I heard about all the yummy snacks she was making with it. I wanted to be able to make healthier snacks for my family. I have used this dehydrator non stop since I have gotten it.

I purchased the Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator from Amazon using my prime account. I am so impatient. I love prime and that it can be here in two days. It came and I love it. I instantly started it up with fruits.

More bananas (we love banana chips!) mangos and papaya. I have also done apples and pineapple and mandarin oranges. YUM!!! We are often at the soft ball field and being there 2 hours I want to stay away from the concession stands, so I grab a few bags of fruit and we munch on these during the games!

I have also used parsley from the garden and dried them for cooking.

All my yummy fruits bagged up and ready to go. My favorites have been bananas, loquats, mango, and mandarin oranges. They are ALL good but those are my top favorite ones. I am sad that loquat season is over here in Florida. They were SO YUMMY to dry out and eat 🙂 Next year I will pick LOTS more and dry them faster and beat the squirrel and birds to them 🙂

This has been one of the best pieces of kitchen equipment I have gotten. Sure I could do the same thing in the oven but this is so nice.

Another fun tip. If you look at this photo again —

You don’t need to buy a fancy dehydrator with a timer on it. I simply put in a cheap light timer from my local hardware store. And plug my dehydrator into it. I set it for how many hours I want it to run and when to come on etc. 🙂  A tip that my husband came up for me. I love it. I don’t have to worry that if it is running at 10pm and I really need it to turn off around 1am, I don’t have to sit up all night waiting for it. I know the timer will shut it off and it will be ready and waiting for me in the morning with yummy treats!

It comes with plastic liners for the layers if you decide you want to make fruit leather or  when I did my herbs, they didn’t fall thru the slats. This dehydrator has 5 levels and super easy to use. I generally leave it at 135-140 degrees to dry out all my fruit. My fruits will dry out in 6-14 hours depending how thick I cut them.

And another wonderful thing about it- the smells and aromas that permeate the air while it is drying is amazing. I love how it makes my kitchen/home smell!

If you are looking for an easy to use dehydrator for yummy fruits and veggies — might I suggest  the Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator It is definitely a favorite for me!
